Bursary

The Bursary is intended to support the development of the art of professional artists at any stage in their career. Applicants must be professional artists or art workers. To be considered as a professional artist for the purposes of the bursary, the individual must be recognised as a professional artist by their peers but are not required to be necessarily earning a continuous income from their art.

Recently extended to include creative bursaries spanning up to three years, materials bursaries and collaborative bursaries funding is available to release an artist from their usual commitments to work on a specific body of work and allow them to purchase their time, space and the freedom to complete the work. The bursary may be employed to cover materials and living costs to aid the production and dissemination of the work.

The bursary is subject to a maximum award of EUR 15,000 per year, per artist.

For further information on the criteria, conditions and how to qualify for the bursary please refer to the Arts Councils guide for individuals to Arts Council Bursaries, published on the Arts Council website at www.artscouncil.ie
