The arts in schools programme is designed to nurture the aesthetic education of students in primary and secondary education. The programme was initiated by An Chomhairile Ealaíon, (The Arts Council) and is implemented at local and regional levels by various local agencies, arts organisations and National Cultural Institutions. Schemes vary in the age groups targeted and the type of arts activity engaged in – Music, Opera, Public Art, Visual Arts, Architecture, Dance, Drama, Film and Literature.
