Picture Hanging

Picture fasteners are the hardware attached to the back of the artwork in order to attach the artwork to your wall. This article describes the more common picture fasteners in use today.

To hang an artwork we are going to need something on the back of the artwork itself to attach to the wall. Sometimes frames will have a fastener already attached, or will have a hole or slot built into the design which will serve this function. Most commonly, this is achieved with a saw-tooth hanger, picture hangers or screw eyes.

Wall Fasteners for plasterboard or drywall.

While picture hooks may work well enough for lighter pictures, If the substrate is plasterboard they can be limited in the amount of weight which they can safely support. In many cases you will need to drill a hole to insert a stronger fastener when hanging a picture on a plasterboard wall.
