Travel and Mobility Award

The Travel and Mobility Award is designed to enable artists to travel outside of Ireland for the purposes of professional development and networking to facilitate the extension of the international impact of Irish artistic endeavour. It is the most sought after award from An Chomhairile Ealaíon. The award will support a short period of travel outside of Ireland, generally not more than six months. The award may also be sought by those wishing to support a career development initiative such as a mentoring programme, internship, workshop or residency in another country.

The award may also be utilised for ‘inward mobility’ – supporting the travel of an international art professional as a guest in order to see the work of the applicant.

Applications are not subject to a closing date however applications must be received at least four weeks before departure. Applications may be made online at the Supports for Artists website. Bursary

The Bursary is intended to support the development of the art of professional artists at any stage in their career. Applicants must be professional artists or art workers. To be considered as a professional artist for the purposes of the bursary, the individual must be recognised as a professional artist by their peers but are not required to be necessarily earning a continuous income from their art.

Recently extended to include creative bursaries spanning up to three years, materials bursaries and collaborative bursaries funding is available to release an artist from their usual commitments to work on a specific body of work and allow them to purchase their time, space and the freedom to complete the work. The bursary may be employed to cover materials and living costs to aid the production and dissemination of the work.

The bursary is subject to a maximum award of EUR 15,000 per year, per artist.
